Earthquake jolts Islamabad among many areas of country

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Earthquake on Monday jolted Islamabad including its adjoining areas and many other areas of the country. According to the Met office, the intensity of the earthquake was recorded 5 on the Richter scale. The epic-center of the earthquake was 12 kilometers below the ground. The earthquake originated in the border area of Pakistan and India. Meanwhile, the earthquake tremors were felt in Mirpur, Kotli, Bhimber and other areas of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK). Tremors were also felt in Mansehra, Nakyal and other settlements nearby. The earthquake spread fear amongst localsa and the people came out from their houses, shops and offices reciting versus of Holy Quran. Although no human or material damage was reported. On August 16, a 5.0 magnitude earthquake hit different parts of Pakistan. According to details garnered, there were no loss of life or property has been reported thus far. According to the meteorological office (MET), the tremors were felt in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, South Waziristan, Noshera and Peshawar with the intensity of 5.0 on the Richter scale. It was also reported that quake jolted around the areas of Islamabad and Rawalpindi. The epicenter of the quake has been revealed to be the Hindukush mountain range in Afghanistan, 190 meters deep in the ground. On August 10, an earthquake jolted parts of Khyber Paktunkhwa (KPK) with various reports flooding in from the province. According to the reports, no loss of life or property has been reported thus far. The tremors were felt in Swat, Malakand, Mardan, Abbottabad, Swabi , Lower  Dir, Buner and Shangla in Khyber Paktunkhwa. Accoring to the meteorological office (MET) the intensity of the earthquake was recorded at 5.5 on the richter scale. The epicenter of the quake has been revealed to be the bordering areas of Tajikistan and Afghanistan, 70 meters deep in the ground. Earlier on August 8, after a laps of four days, earthquake again jolted parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Gilgit Baltistan (GB) and Punjab. According to the National Seismic Monitoring Centre Islamabad (NSMC), the magnitude of the quake was recorded at 5.9 on Richter Scale while the depth of tremors was observed 279 kilometers deep inside the earth crux. The point of origin was Hindu Kush Region, Afghanistan.
