Earthquake jolts various parts of Pakistan

LAHORE (92 News) – A minor 5.6 magnitude earthquake jolted various parts of Pakistan including Islamabad, Kyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab on Tuesday. As per details garnered, Earthquake jolted several cities of the country including Lahore, Islamabad, Sialkot, Haripur, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Peshawar, Swabi, Swat, Bonera, Malakand, Azad Jammu Kahsmir among Punjab and KP provinces on Tuesday evening. The tremors were felt in parts of country but No loss of life or damage to property has been reported yet. According to National Seismic Monitoring Center, the epicenter of the quake was 104km north east of Muzaffarabad, Azad Kashmir. The depth of the quake was estimated to be 40km. Three days ago, tremors with a magnitude of 5.8 on the Richter scale were felt in Peshawar, Kohat, Karak, Bannu, Nowshera, Charsadda, Abbottabad and Mardan, Islamabad, Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Azad Kashmir. A minor tremor was also reported in Karachi.
5.4 magnitude earthquake jolts different parts of KP
Earlier, an earthquake measuring 5.4 on the Richter scale hit different parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The tremors were felt in in Swat, Malakand, Lower Dir, Swabi and other adjoining areas. There were no reports of any damage. According to the National Seismic Monitoring Centre in Islamabad, the quake struck the Hindu Kush Region of Afghanistan at 4:36am. It had a depth of 113 kilometres. Earlier, a 5.6-magnitude earthquake had struck many towns of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in April this year. The epicenter of the quake was at the depth of 200 kilometres in Hindu Kush mountain area of Afghanistan. In the previous year of Dec 18, a mild 4.1-magnitude earthquake shook Lahore and other cities of Punjab. According to the regional seismic monitoring centre, the tremors were felt at 5:30pm which was recorded at 4.1 on the Richter scale and its epicentre was 45 kilometres to the northeast of Lahore and deepness was 10km. The tremors were felt in various parts of Punjab including Lahore, Pakpattan, Jaranwala, Nankana Sahib, Sheikhupura, Okara and other areas.
