ISLAMABAD (92 News) – A moderate intensity Earthquake measuring 5.2 magnitude on Richter scale struck Pakistan and other parts of the country including Islamabad and Lahore.

According to the geological survey, the epicenter of the earthquake was located in the Hindu Kush Region in Afghanistan at the depth of 180 kilometer.

As per the latest information, no loss of life or casualties have been reported as of yet.

People came out of their homes in panic and started reciting verses of the Holy Quran.

The quake struck different cities of the country including Lahore, Islamabad, Peshawar, Sawat, Chitral, Dir, Boneir, Malakand, Mardan, Nowshera and Charsadda.

This comes months after a powerful earthquake measuring 6.3-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Pakistan’s Balochistan province. However, no loss of life was reported even back then.

Pakistan is a country which is susceptible to earthquakes as it straddles part of the boundary where the Indian and Eurasian tectonic plates meet.

On October 8, 2005, Pakistan witnessed a 7.6-magnitude quake that killed over 73,000 people and left about 3.5 million homeless, mainly in Pakistan-controlled Kashmir.
