ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) on Tuesday allowed the export of 100,000 tons of sugar. Addressing the South Asia summit, Finance Minister Asad Umar said that the meeting had decided to start the crushing season early and help of the provinces will be sought in this regard. He said that they had filled up the economic vacuum and now there was no crisis. The minister said that they had asked the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) to inform them about the decision on the value of the rupee. “Huge investment will come to Pakistan soon. Deficit is also reducing,” he maintained. Moreover, the meeting postponed the matter of direct payments and refund on time. However, it asked the exporters to explain the method of payment of refund. The ECC asked the officials of the FBR, trade, State Bank of Pakistan and Finance Department to devise the method.
