ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) has postponed a decision on raising the electricity tariffs till the next meeting. Finance Minister Asad Umar chaired a meeting on Tuesday. The meeting was expected to give the green light for an Rs 2 per unit raise in electricity prices. Sources close to the government said Prime Minister Imran Khan’s approval was awaited in the matter. The ECC has directed the NEPRA and the Power Division to present the policy for the next 3-5 years at the next meeting. The directives say the policy should aim at improving the collection of bills and include a strategy to cut the line losses.
