ISLAMABAD (92 News) - Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that the government had made tough decisions to improve the economy.

Talking to the media after a meeting of the federal cabinet on Tuesday, he said that the government will make further tough decisions if need be. "The economy is facing challenges due to incompetence of the PTI," he maintained.

The prime minister said that Imran Khan had violated the agreement he made with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and reduced the prices of the petroleum while leaving.

"The former government wove a net for the incumbent by making wrong decisions. We assumed responsibilities during very difficult time. Now the government is imposing taxes on the rich and hopefully they will pay it happily," he added.

He also mentioned that global economic situation was complicated as the prices of petrol and grains were spiraling. "The government had decided to increase prices of petroleum products with heavy heart. Under a decision in the budget, about 70 million people are being provided financial support worth millions of rupees through activation of a helpline."

The prime minister further explained that in the budget, they had decided to divert burden from the poor and levy tax upon the wealthy people. He expressed the confidence that the affluent and wealthy class would pay taxes and offer sacrifice for the country and nation.
