ECP allows ROs to scrutinize nomination papers during Eid holidays

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has allowed the returning officers to scrutinize the nomination papers during the holidays of Eidul Fitr. The spokesman for the ECP said that scrutiny of the papers could also be conducted if notices have been issued during the Eid holidays. After the permission, the returning officers will also be able to continue the scrutiny process of the candidates during the Eid holidays. Earlier on Thursday, Chief Election Commissioner Sardar Muhammad Raza Khan had ordered the deployment of the Pakistan Army personnel in and out off the polling stations to ensure security during the upcoming general elections 2018. During a meeting, it was also decided that foolproof security would be provided during printing of the ballot papers. For this purpose, army would be deployed at Security Printing Press from 27th of this month to 25th of next month. Later briefing newsmen, Additional Director-General Media of Election Commission told journalist that CCTV cameras would be installed at 20,000 sensitive polling stations in the country.
