ECP announces to decide disqualification reference of PTI's 20 dissidents within 30 days

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has announced to decide on the reference for disqualification of PTI's 20 dissidents within 30 days.

The ECP also directed to submit the written reply after postponing all references till May 6.

The chief election commissioner ruled that they cannot separate the case as it similar one.

An interesting situation was created in the courtroom when the estranged member Ramesh Kumar reached there to meet other members. Malaika Bukhari and Azam Swati turned away their faces.

However, Noor Alam and Ramesh Kumar objected that it was not the full bench. "Noor Alam has neither voted against the party policy nor he resigned and nor he joined another party," his counsel contended.

PTI estranged members Asim Nazir, Sami Gillani, Ahmed Hussain Dehar, Afzal Dhandla and Amir Liaquat Hussain also appeared before the commission.

The PTI counsel contended that it was against the constitution to question the scope of the ECP. "It is irresponsibility of the parliament not to complete the ECP."

The ECP reserved the verdict on its scope on the disqualification reference of Noor Alam Khan. "We will decide on the disqualification reference of the 20-30 dissidents of the National Assembly," it ruled.
