ECP announces to hold by-elections on October 16

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has announced to hold the by-election on October 16, rejecting the Interior Ministry's plea to postpone the by-polls due to floods.

The decision was made during a meeting chaired by Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja on Tuesday.

According to the decision, the by-elections will be held in 11 constituencies except NA-45 as per schedule. In the Karachi Division, the local government elections will be held on October 23.

The meeting was attended by members of Election Commission, Secretaries of Election Commission, Ministry of Interior, Defense, Chief Secretary and Inspector General Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Sindh and others.
