ISLAMABAD (92 News) - The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has announced to hold the next general elections on the old delimitations.

Talking to the media on Thursday, ECP Special Secretary Zafar Iqbal said that the elections would be held before October 11 if the assembly is dissolved on the completion of its tenure on August 12.

"We are fully ready for the elections. We have purchased water mark paper. We are in contact with all institutions. We have approached the judiciary for the appointment of the DROs and ROs," he announced.

ECP Secretary Umar Hameed said that the commission had made arrangements to hold the elections on the old delimitations. "We will make the decision as per the law and the constitution if the new census is notified," he maintained.

He said that the ECP is ready to hold the elections in 90 or 60 days. "The elections will be held under the new electoral reforms," he added.
