February 8, 2018
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Wednesday dismissed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan’s petition seeking disqualification of party member and minister Ziaullah Afridi. A five-member bench of the ECP gave judgement in favor of estranged PTI leader with margin of 3-2. On the other hand, the five-member bench of the ECP dismissed the petition challenging the intra-party election of the PTI. According to the record of the intra-party election a total of 256,997 votes were casted, of which Insaf Panel secured 189,055 whereas Ehtesaab Panel received 141,000 votes, while 26,255 votes were rejected. The PTI's counsel objected to giving the election records to the other party as it would violate the sanctity of the vote, adding that providing the records would give access to the phone number of voters.
