ECP disposes of contempt of court cases against Imran Khan

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has on Thursday disposes of the two contempt of court cases against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan after he submitted written apology. Imran Khan today (Thursday) appeared before the ECP in Islamabad along with his Counsel Babar Awan, Jahangir Khan Tareen, Fawad Chaudhry and Naeemul Haq in Contempt of Court Case. A five-member bench of the ECP, headed by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sardar Raza Khan heard the case. During the proceedings, Babar Awan presented arguments before the ECP and prayed the tribunal to dispose off the case after which the CEC asked Imran Khan’s counsel to submit a written apology signed by Imran Khan. The PTI chairman later submitted a signed written apology in the ECP after which the tribunal disposed off the contempt of court cases against Imran Khan. Later, talking to media outside the ECP, Khan expressed happiness over the disposing off of the contempt cases and said that his criticism doesn’t aim at targeting someone but making the ECP reliable.
