April 10, 2019
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Wednesday disqualified a member of Balochistan Assembly Muhammad Khan, who associated with the Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) over fake degree. A three-member bench of the ECP headed by Chief Election Commissioner Justice (r) Sardar Muhammad Raza announced the verdict. BAP leader Muhammad Khan had won election from Balochistan Assembly constituency PB-4 Loralai. He had defeated Maulvi Faiz Ullah of Muttahidda Majlis-i-Ammal Pakistan who stood second and independent candidate Shams Ud Din Wald Qamar Ud Din who grabbed third position. Last year in October, the Supreme Court had declared Balochistan Awami Party leader Abdul Rauf Rind’s victory from a provincial assembly constituency, PB-47, void. Abdul Rauf Rind was elected from Balochistan’s Kech district. A bench of the apex court declared the BAP lawmaker’s win void for possessing dual nationality. It ruled that Abdul Rauf Rind held the nationality of Oman and failed to produce a certificate to show that he has relinquished his foreign nationality. BAP’s Abdul Rauf Rind was elected to Balochistan Assembly from PB-47 in General Election on July 25.
Differences echo between PTI, BAP over distribution of ministries
|Earlier, differences have apparently appeared between Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and Balochistan Awami Party. PTI provincial president Sardar Yar Muhammad Rind did not attend the oath-taking of the provincial ministers on Monday. Echoes of differences over distribution of ministries are loud in Balochistan. The PTI provincial president also failed to attend the oath-taking ceremony of provincial ministers. Sources close to the CM said that the chief minister received the invitation letter just an hour before the ceremony. The Balochistan National Party Awami and the Hazara Democratic Party have also decided to part ways with the government and might join the opposition benches. The BAP-led government might lose majority in the house if the PTI and the BNP-A quit the coalition.
