ECP disqualifies PTI chairman Imran Khan in Toshakhana reference

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) disqualified PTI chairman Imran Khan in the Toshakhana reference on Friday.

The four-member bench of the ECP ruled that Imran Khan has been found guilty of corrupt practices and he has been disqualified under 62(1)(f). It observed that Imran Khan had submitted a false affidavit.

The constituency of Imran Khan has been declared illegal. According to the verdict, the ECP has ordered legal action against Imran Khan for submitting false vouchers.

On September 19, the ECP had reserved the verdict on the Toshakhana reference.

MNA Barrister Mohsin Nawaz Ranjha had filed the reference against Imran Khan. The reference was also signed by Agha Hassan Baloch, Salahudeen Ayubi, Ali Gohar Khan, Syed Rafiullah Agha and Saad Waseem Sheikh.

In the reference, MNAs from the ruling alliance included documentary evidence to establish their claims against the former prime minister and sought his disqualification under Sections 2 and 3 of Article 63 of the Constitution, read with Article 62(1)(f).
