ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Election Commission of Pakistan has on Wednesday disqualified Rawalpindi Mayor Sardar Naseem.

A five-member commission headed by Chief Election Commissioner, Justice (r) Sardar Raza, announced the decision in Islamabad today.

Two separate petitions were filed against the Mayor by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's (PTI) Lubna Iqbal and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) Tahira Perveen.

The petitioners had alleged that Naseem had used his influence to rig local bodies’ polls for reserved seats prior to being elected the city mayor.
