ECP members decide not to resign, reject PTI’s allegations
November 29, 2015
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) members have decided not to resign on the demand of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Pakistan People’s Party and other parties. The decision was made during a meeting under the chairmanship of Chief Election Commissioner Justice (retd) Sardar Muhammad Raza in Islamabad on Monday. Rejecting all the allegations of the PTI, they said that their appointment was made constitutionally. “Why should we resign, if our character is clean?” they said. They pointed out that the PTI Lawyers Forum had filed a reference in the Supreme Judicial Council, which was the competent forum to decide such matters. “Therefore, the members will not take any decision about their resignations till the final decision of the Supreme Judicial Council.” The ECP members pointed out that they have been systematically ridiculed and stigmatized with false and baseless allegations of rigging.
