ISLAMABAD (92 News) - The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday postponed the Senate elections in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly for an indefinite period.

Twenty-five opposition members had submitted an application for the postponement of the elections as they had not taken the oath yet.

They appealed to the ECP to conduct the elections after taking the oath. After consultation, the ECP members postponed the elections in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly.

In the written order, the ECP said that the electoral college is incomplete in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the speaker had not yet taken the oath from the notified members. "Hence the Senate elections in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly are postponed under the Article 218(III) and the Election Act Powers," it ordered.
