ISLAMABAD (92 News) - The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Friday rejected the statement of Jamiat Ulmae Islam-F (JUI-F) related to the alleged rigging in general election 2018. According to the details, the ECP spokesman expressed regret on Fazlur Rehman’s demand for ECP’s resignation. He termed that Fazlur Rehman’s all accusations are false.. Rejecting the accusation of the JUI-F chief, the ECP maintained that the General Elections 2018 were fair, transparent and impartial. “Accusations without any evidence is deplorable and contrary to the facts. Not respecting the mandate of public without any justification is against the rules of democracy,” asserted then ECP spokesperson. The ECP official mentioned that If anyone has reservations over the elections, he should file petition as per procedure. He also said that the tradition of pressurizing national institutions should be ended. “ECP is an independent institution and will not tolerate any sort of pressure,” the spokesperson explained. Earlier on Thursday, speaking to journalists in Peshawar Press Club, Rehman maintained that the present government is enforced and announced to run a campaign to awaken the people. He asked the ECP that all the parties rejected the election results unanimously. He added that ECP has failed to hold free and fair elections therefore; it has to resign immediately.
