ECP dismisses reference seeking disqualification of 20 PTI dissidents

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has rejected the reference seeking disqualification of 20 PTI dissidents.

Announcing the unanimous verdict on Wednesday, Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja ruled that the Article 63 A does not apply to the PTI dissidents.

Earlier on Wednesday, the ECP had reserved the verdict on the disqualification reference.

On April 14, then National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaisar had sent the reference to the ECP.

The ECP held first hearing into the disqualification reference on April 28. It conducted four hearings of the reference.
