ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) started to accept nomination papers from the candidates for general elections 2018 here from on Monday (today). After the Supreme Court overruled the Lahore High Court's (LHC) order for amendments to the document, the ECP will receive the nomination papers, in compliance with the approved format in the Election Act 2017, from June 4 till June 8. The ECP directed that the candidates must submit Article 62 and 63 Affidavits with their nomination papers. The papers will be received until June 8 while names of the candidates will be published on the same date. The election symbols will be allotted to the contesting candidates on 29th of this month. Suspension of the LHC verdict again opened the way to contest election for corrupt and tax thief. Nomination papers of Bilawal Bhutoo for NA-246 has been received by the ECP. On Friday, LHC had ruled that the nomination forms of the electoral candidates did not seek necessary information and declarations such as details on educational background, criminal record, and dual citizenship. The court ordered ECP to again add the requirements of Articles 62 and 63 of the Constitution to the nomination papers. However, the Supreme Court on Sunday suspended the LHC's verdict that nullified nomination forms of electoral candidates for the upcoming general elections.
