ISLAMABAD (92 News) - The Election Commission of Punjab has stopped the Punjab government from giving 100 units to the people until July 17.

Hearing the suo motu notice of the Roshan Gharana Programme on Thursday, Chief Election Commissioner Raja Sikandar Sultan remarked that a fair election will be held in 20 constituencies of Punjab. "Action will be taken under the law on the violation of the code of conduct. No uplift project should be announced till the by-election," he maintained.

He rejected the propaganda to make the by-election controversial. He said that the ECP already had support of the law-enforcement agencies. The ECP Sindh member remarked that such statements should be considered an attempt to influence the election.

Meanwhile, counsel for the Punjab chief minister submitted the reply to the Election Commission.

Earlier, Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shehbaz had announced to provide free electricity to the people using up to 100 units.
