ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday suspended the vote recount order on the seat of the Bannu mayor.

The ECP issued notices to the parties and summoned the next week.

It also heard the case of pre-poll rigging in Bakakhel. The ECP ruled that strict action would be taken if anyone tried to protect the responsible people.

Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Mirza ruled that it extreme of lawlessness that the polling staff, including women, were made hostage.

He said that the culprits would be definitely punished. "We will take the matter to the logical end," he added.

The CEC questioned the district returning officer (DRO) about the security arrangements at the sensitive polling stations.

The DPO told the ECP that they had received the threat alert on the polling day. He said that they had so far arrested 18 people.

The ECP also issued notices to Provincial Minister Shah Muhammad, his brother and son. Later, the hearing was adjourned till December 28.
