ECP to consult attorney general, legal experts over election date by president

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has decided to consult the attorney general over the date for elections announced by President Dr Arif Alvi.

The decision was made during a meeting chaired by Chief Election Commissioner Raja Sikandar Sultan on Tuesday.

The ECP has invited the attorney general and two legal experts for tomorrow's meeting.

According to a press release, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) makes decisions as per the constitution and the law without any pressure and it would continue to do so. "We are ready to conduct the elections in 90 days, but the commission cannot itself announce the date for the elections.

The ECP is bound to give the election schedule soon after getting a date from the elections from a competent authority.
