ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) will conclude the scrutiny of nomination papers filed by candidates for the general election 2018 on Tuesday (today). As per details, scrutiny of nomination papers for reserved seats for women and minorities in Punjab continued till 4pm. Meanwhile, nomination papers of PTI chief Imran Khan, PPP supremo Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, and PML-N's Hamza Shahbaz and Maryam Nawaz following scrutiny have been accepted. The detailed orders are awaited as the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) concludes the scrutiny of nomination papers today. According to the electoral body, a total of 21,482 nomination papers have been filed across the country for national and provincial assemblies. At least 6,063 candidates will contest for the 342 seats of the National Assembly, while 15,419 hopefuls have filed nomination papers for the seats of the provincial assemblies. The election schedule states that appeals against rejection or acceptance of nomination papers can be filed by June 22. The decision on the appeals will be made by June 27, after which the final list of the candidates will be shared on June 28. Candidates can withdraw their nomination papers by 29th June and the electoral body will announce the final list of candidates the same day. Electoral symbols will be issued to candidates on 30th June while polling will be held on 25th of next month.
