NEW DELHI (92 News) – Indian Home Minister Rajnath Singh said on Friday attempts are being made to free an Indian soldier in Pakistan’s captivity after he was captured across the Line of Control (LoC) on Friday. One of the soldiers Indian army from the 37 Rashtriya Rifles with a weapon was arrested by the Pakistani forces from the Pakistani territory on the Line of Control (LoC). Indian Home Minister Rajnath Singh assured that the release of the Indian soldier was being taken up with Islamabad and all efforts are being made to ensure his early release. Singh said the government has taken note of the reports which stated that an Indian soldier is in Pakistan's captivity. Mystery surrounded the Indian soldier’s arrest initially due to a lack of confirmation from official channels in both countries. Taking advantage of this information gap, India maintained that a soldier had accidentally crossed the LoC so it can request his return under existing mechanisms. “It is confirmed one soldier from 37 Rashtriya Rifles with weapons has inadvertently crossed over to the Pakistan side of the Line of Control,” an Indian army official said in New Delhi.
