Efforts underway to restore electricity across country

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – A major power breakdown was occurred across the country at midnight due to technical fault in the electricity transmission system.

According to spokesman of the Power Division, the breakdown took place when frequency tripped from 50 to zero in the electricity distribution system. However, electricity is gradually being restored across the country.

The spokesman added that Minister for Energy Omar Ayub himself is supervising the entire process for restoration of the electricity.

Three production units of Terbela Power House have been restored, while production units of Warsak Power House have also become functional.

Meanwhile, a spokesman of the NTDC said that a committee has been constituted to probe into causes of this major power breakdown.

The spokesman said according to initial reports, the fault in the electricity distribution system occurred at 11:41pm which caused tripping in high transmission lines.

He said power restoration work is being carried out while completely observing the protocol and care.
