ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Eidul Fitr is being celebrated across the country with religious fervor on Wednesday (today). Muslims from all walks of life started making a beeline to the mosques for offering the Eid prayers. Ramzan, the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, is observed as a fasting period by Muslims the world over who abstain from food and water during the period extending from 30 minutes before the sunrise to sunset. Eid congregations were held at open places‚ mosques and Eidgahs throughout the country. Ulemas and religious scholars highlighted the significance and philosophy of Eidul Fitr and the need to share its joys with the have-nots. In Lahore, the main Eid congregation was held at historic Badshahi Mosque. Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif offered Eid prayer at Model Town in Lahore. Meanwhile, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif is in Waziristan to celebrate the auspicious occasion of Eid with the troops engaged in operation Zarb-e-Azb. In Peshawar, the main gathering of Eid prayers was witnessed at Eidgah Charsadda Road Peshawar. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak offered Eid prayer at his native area in district Nowshera. He also met with public and exchanged Eid greetings. Eid 3
