CHITRAL (92 News) – At least 19 people including eight family members were killed in flooding and torrential rains in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Chitral district as severe flooding and rains continued to wreak havoc in Athal area on Saturday. According to Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), the death toll from flooding in Chitral has risen to 26 after 19 people lost their lives during the last 24 hours. “As many as 125 houses were damaged in the last night’s flood, while the number of damaged houses reached to 290,” the PDMA said. Meanwhile, the metrological department on Saturday forecasted that it anticipated more rain during the next 4 to 5 days in upper Chitral areas. Metrological expert Dr Muhammad Hanif said that the flow of water in River Chitral, Kabul and Hunza will increase. Metrological expert forecasted more rains in Dera Ghazi Khan, Layyah and Bhakkar.
