KARACHI (92 News) – Fourteen people were killed and several others injured in the rain and snowfall related incidents across the country.

In Shangla, three people died and four others injured when an avalanche fell on their house. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, four people were buried alive in different roof-collapse incidents.

In Balochistan's area Mangchar, five people died in a collision between a coach and a car. Several villages were disconnected from the main cities due to heavy snowfall in the upper areas. Hundreds of vehicles were stranded due to closure of Lawari Tunnel.

On the other hand, six people have so far died due to gusty winds in Karachi. The deaths occurred in North Nazimabad, Gulbahai, Sarjani, Kaneez Fatima Society and Orangi Town.

The winds blowing at 50-70km/h have created a dust storm, reducing visibility to 500 metres at several places. Owing to gusty winds, motorists and bikers are facing difficulties on roads. Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfraz has urged citizens to be cautious during the gusty winds. He said that there is a danger of collapse of signboards, trees and dilapidated buildings.

Meanwhile, the rain is continuing with intervals in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. The heavy snowfall is continuing in Naran, Chitral and Astore, cutting the road links with the main cities. Different roads were closed due to the heavy snowfall in Quetta, Chaman, Ziarat, Kozak Top, Mehtarzai, Sanjawi and Zhob.
