THARPARKAR (92 News) – At least four more children died at Civil Hospital Mithi on Monday due to malnutrition, taking the death toll to over 288 in the Tharparkar area of Sindh. An outbreak of water borne and food shortage diseases continued to claim lives in Thar as children suffered deprivation of food and water in Mithi while the relief activities in the area has not been launched by the local government. The death tally has been mounted to 288 while hundreds of other children are under treatment at various hospitals in Tharparkar and Mithi. On the other hand, the Sindh government is resorting to mere announcements while death toll in Tharparkar is rising as four more minors died at Civil Hospital Mithi. A drought-like situation in Tharparkar, unavailability of clean drinking water, inadequate medical facilities and medicines, including shortage of doctors and paramedics, had led to the high rate of deaths among children and infants. The areas of Mithi, Diplo, Islamkot, Chhacchro, Nagarpakar and others in Tharparkar are facing a drought-like situation.
