ISLAMABAD (92 News) - The Supreme Court on Friday ordered to hold the election for the Punjab chief minister on July 22.

After a long hearing, Chief Justice Umar Atta Bandial remarked that the matter had been resolved with the help of all parties and the court would issue the written order on Saturday (tomorrow).

"We have resolved the crisis lingering for the last three months in just three sessions. It is easy to criticize the court. Judges cannot reply to the criticism. Attendance of all parties will be marked if we use the power of the contempt of court," he observed and ruled that Hamza Shehbaz will continue to work as the chief minister till July 22.

Justice Jamal Mandokhel remarked that politicians themselves should resolve their problems and should obey the court after approaching it.

Earlier, PTI counsel Babar Awan told court that Imran Khan had accepted Hamza Shehbaz till July 22.

Hamza Shehbaz assured the court that the election will be transparent.

Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhary Pervaiz Elahi appealed to court to order the government not to harass their members. At this, Justice Ejazul Hassan remarked that courts are open if people are arrested.
