Electoral Reforms Bill: Govt to revert affidavit to original form

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The government on Wednesday decided to reverse the changes mistakenly made in the amendment to Electoral Reforms Bill 2017. The decision was made during a meeting of parliamentary leaders, which was presided over by National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq. Later talking to the media, Ayaz Sadiq admitted that a ‘clerical error’ was made and said that it was decided in the meeting that the original form of the affidavit will be kept intact. Speaking on the occasion, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that this is a sensitive issue, adding that his party suggested no amendment should be made in the laws. Earlier, Federal Law Minister Zahid Hamid had said that they cannot even think of abolishing the Khatm-e-Nabuwwat Law. He said that the Article 63 of the Constitution has not been abolished. “The open voting was held on the Electoral Reforms Bill and it was approved before all,” he added.
