ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Federal Minister for Energy Hammad Azhar has said that the shortfall had occurred due to a reduction in power generation at Tarbela Dam and electricity and gas situation would improve by Monday.

Talking to the media on Friday, he said that LNG was being offloaded from the ship.

"We have not operated the power plants on furnace oil. Some people have tried to do politics on loadshedding. Up to 12-hour shutdown was observed during their tenures," he said.

The minister claimed that projects of 26,000 megawatts are going to be completed in next eight years. "Presently, there is a record of power demand because the industry is running with vigour," he said.

He said that there was a monthly circular debt of Rs 400 billion when they assumed power and it had been reduced to Rs 177 billion.
