Electricity prices likely to hike in ECC meeting today

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The government is likely to increase in electricity prices in the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet on Tuesday (today) here. As per details garnered, Minister for Finance Asad Umar will chair sixth session of Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) today. In the ECC meeting, a four-point agenda to be discussed. On top of the list is summary of the Power Division ‘Tariff rationalisation for Power Sector’. A comprehensive report on LNG terminal and LNG agreements will be presented in the meeting. A summary related to increase electricity prices from two to four rupees per unit will also come under consideration during the meeting. Other items to be discussed including an update on K-Electric shares purchase by Shanghai Electric Power Company Ltd, revision in cess rates of tobacco for the year 2018-19 and a report on LNG terminals.
