Electronic voting machine inevitable for fair elections: Fawad Chaudhary

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhary has reiterated that the electronic voting machine (EVM) is inevitable for the fair elections.

Talking to the media on Monday, he said that the EVM fulfills all conditions of the Election Commission of Pakistan.

"The use of EVM will reduce the chances of rigging in addition to giving the results immediately," he maintained.

He said that the machine would not be attached to Internet. "The EVM is one step ahead the paper-based system. We will have to devise a mechanism so that no one should object to transparency of the elections," he added.

President Dr Arif Alvi will inspect the machine today.
