Emergency declared in all hospitals of Mirpur, says AJK PM Raja Farooq Haider

MUZAFFARABAD (92 News) – Azad Jammu and Kashmir Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider said that emergency has been declared in all hospitals after the earthquake that killed five people in Mirpur. Talking to 92 News, he said that Pak Army has started the rescue operation in the affected areas. “The ground situation is not very bad. The rescue activities can be started easily. The rescue operation is being expedited to complete it before night,” he said. He said that they are making arrangements for overnight stay of the earthquake victims. The AJK prime minister said that Jatlan was the most affected area. On the orders of Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar, rescue teams have been dispatched to Mirpur. “Initially, teams have been sent to Gujrat and Jhelum. The Rescue Punjab will provide all-out help to the people affected by earthquake,” said Punjab Rescue DG Dr Rizwan Naseer. The epicenter of the earthquake is said to be five kilometers away north of Jhelum at a depth of 10km. After the earthquake, flights were stopped in Lahore, Islamabad and Karachi. Roads have been damaged and crevices were created in canals in Mirpur. Emergency has been declared in all hospitals in Mirpur. The wall of a house collapsed in Jhelum. Several buses and vehicles turned turtle due to the earthquake.
