ETO who raided Lahore's Cafe Aylanto for liquor selling suspended from service

LAHORE-- The Excise and Taxation Officer (ETO), who raided popular cafe Aylanto in Gulberg III, was suspended from service by the higher authorities on Wednesday. ETO Masood Bashir Warraich was put on suspension by the Excise & Taxation director general for conducting raid at an expensive cafe. On September 8, the city district administration and the Excise officials had jointly raided Cafe Aylanto on M M Alam Road in Gulberg III,  to recover a quantity of liquor and seal it for serving to the customers. A number of bottles of alcohol were recovered from the premises. The restaurant was charged with illegally serving alcohol was sealed with immediate effect by the authorities. Assistant Commissioner Model Town Zeeshan Ranjha carried out the raid along with the Excise and Taxation Department officials. A large amount of alcohol was recovered from the premises. Officials took 13 people including staff members into custody after the raid and shifted them to the unidentified location. A case was registered against the arrested suspects. The Excise officials interrogated the arrested staff members of the cafe to determine how long the liquor was being served to the customers and how the owner got protection. The presence of liquor at the cafe and its sale raised questions in the minds of people that how the owner and under whose patronage was doing an illegal activity. And who are the alcohol customers?
