EU Representative Federica Mogherini calls on COAS

RAWALPINDI (92 News) – EU Representative for Foreign Affairs Federica Mogherini on Monday called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa. In a statement, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that the meeting took place at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi. During the meeting, both the leaders discussed with him affairs of mutual interest and regional security situation. The visiting dignitary lauds Pakistan’s efforts and the positive role being played for regional peace and stability, the ISPR said.
Pakistan, EU agree on long-term partnership in bilateral trade & energy
Earlier today, Pakistan and the European Union (EU) have agreed to be long-term partners in several fields, including bilateral trade, investment and energy. The understanding came at the fourth round of Strategic Dialogue between Pakistan and the European Union in Islamabad. The Pakistan delegation was led by Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi while the EU by its Foreign Policy Chief Federica Mogherini. Under the agreement, the EU will provide all-out assistance to eliminate terrorism, poverty and promote health and education. Addressing a joint news conference along with Federica Mogherini, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that the engagement plan, which will be formally signed in Brussels, will lay the foundation for a bright future between Pakistan and the European Union. He said that trade between Pakistan and the European Union had doubled after grant of GSP Plus status to Pakistan in 2013. “The present government is keen to enhance exports to Europe and fix the trade deficit issue besides creating more jobs for Pakistanis through trade with Europe.”
