BRUSSELS, Belgium (92 News) – Sixteen members of the European Parliament have expressed their concern over the situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

In a letter to the European high-level representative, they said that the worst lockdown had been continuing in the Occupied Kashmir since 2019. "The situation of freedom of expression is worst and journalists are being targeted in IIOJK. India is misusing the law," they added.

They said that there is a ban on congregations of people and hundreds of Kashmiris are languishing in jails.

The European Parliament members said that the Indian actions are a symbol of danger between two nuclear powers. "Kashmiris are strongly protesting against revocation of Kashmir's special status and the controversial Indian Citizenship (Amendment) Act. As a result, there is unrest in the Valley," they maintained.

They said that the European Union will have to create environment through the international community for implementation of the United Nations resolutions and promises made with the Kashmiris.
