ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Former chief justice of Pakistan (CJP) Nasirul Mulk has taken took oath as caretaker prime minister on Friday at the Presidency. President Mamnoon Hussain administered the oath to Nasirul Mulk over presence of higher government officials including outgoing prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi were also present. Justice Nasirul Mulk was nominated as the caretaker prime minister with consensus between PM Abbasi and Leader of Opposition in National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah. It is pertinent to menioned here that the National Assembly (NA), Punjab and the Balochistan assemblies dissolved on the night between Thursday and Friday after completing their five-year terms. A notification about the dissolution of the National Assembly was issued by its Joint Secretary that the NA stood dissolved on May 31, 2018. Earlier, the assemblies of Sindh and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had completed their respective terms on Monday and stood dissolved. The caretaker setup will oversee the elections scheduled for July 25. The ruling party has nominated the former judge for the coveted post. All the opposition parties have welcomed his  nomination. Justice Nasirul Mulk is remembered for the way he conducted a contempt case against then prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani. Justice Mulk is one of the seven judges who signed a restraining order on Nov 3, 2007, when retired Gen Pervez Musharraf imposed emergency and forcibly sent the judges home.
