ISLAMABAD (92 News) - Former Chief Justice of Pakistan Tassaduq Hussain Jillani on Monday refused to head the commission probing into judges allegations.

In a letter titled 'One-Man Inquiry Commission to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Tassaduq Hussain Jillani said that inquiry commission could not look into the matter falling within the ambit of the Supreme Judicial Council. "Under the Article 209, the inquiry commission cannot hold investigations into the matter. The CJP should resolve the matter at the institution level," he added.

The former CJP thanked CJP Qazi Faez Isa and Justice Mansoor for expressing their trust in him.

On Saturday, the government had formed an inquiry commission for a probe into the allegations of judges' and appointed Justice (retd) Tassaduq Hussain Jillani as its head.

The federal cabinet had approved the appointment on Saturday. Federal Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar and Attorney General Mansoor Usman Awan were tasked with preparing the terms of Terms of Reference (TORs) of the commission.
