Ex-COAS didn’t inform GHQ to become Islamic countries army chief: Kh Asif

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Defence Minister Kh Asif has said that former COAS had not informed the Defence Ministry or General Headquarters to become the army chief of Islamic countries. In his policy statement in the Senate on Wednesday, he said that General (retd) Raheel Sharif had not contacted the GHQ for the NOC clearance. He said that a military officer needs NOC for employment after his retirement.  On the other hand, Adviser to the PM on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz said that former COAS Raheel Sharif need permission to become the chief of Islamic countries military alliance. “Still nothing is clear and he cannot give any statement,” he said. Farhatullah Babar said that there will be deep effect on Pakistan’s foreign policy if General (retd) agrees to become the chief of Islamic countries military alliance.
