Ex-MNA Ali Raza Abidi resigns from MQM-P ahead of by-polls

KARACHI (92 News) – Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan leader Syed Ali Raza Abidi resigned from the party's basic membership. According to sources, Abidi resigned as party did not grant him ticket to contest by-polls from Karachi's NA-243 constituency which fell vacant by Prime Minister Imran Khan. The MQM-P faces a major setback as party leader Syed Ali Raza Abidi resigned from the party's basic membership. Abidi, who is considered the close aide of former party convener Dr Farooq Sattar, quit in disappointment over the party overlooking him and nominating Faisal Sabzwari in his stead. In the resignation letter sent to MQM-P convener Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, which was also posted on Twitter, Abidi wrote: "This is to bring to your attention that I will not be able to continue participation with MQM Pakistan due to personal reasons. Therefore, it is requested to accept my resignation from basic membership." Former MNA had also resigned on November 8 last year via twitter over alliance between MQM-Pakistan and Pak Sarzameen Party. On the other hand, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui has said that he has not received the resignation from Ali Raza Abidi.
