KARACHI (92 News) - An accountability court on Monday acquitted former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and other accused in the illegal appointments cas.

The court accepted the NAB plea to withdraw the reference. The acquitted accused include PSO former MD Sheikh Imranul Haq and Petroleum former secretary Arshad Mirza.

Talking to the media outside court, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi demanded the closure of the NAB, declaring it an institution for political revenge. “The reference was tried for four years and two months and only one witness testified who was brought by the NAB,” he added.

The ex-PM said that today the court had acquitted all accused. “I have been saying from day one that the NAB is being used for political cases. The NAB will have to be closed if the government wants to run the country,” he maintained.
