LAHORE (92 News) – The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Wednesday stopped former prime minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani from country.
Gilani, who was about to board a South Korea-bound flight, was stopped at Allama Iqbal International Airport for being on the exit control list. He had to attend an international conference organized by the Universal Peace Federation on February 10. Faisal Karim Kundi also accompanied him.
Talking to the media after being stopped from leaving the country, Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani said that basic human rights have been trampled by stopping him. “I cannot think of leaving the country.”
He said that he had informed the accountability court judge about his departure, while the Foreign and Interior offices were also aware of his foreign tours.
The former prime minister asked the PTI to leave the path of revenge. “It’s not good for Imran Khan. If a former prime minister is being meted out cruelty and then how a common man will get protection,” he said.
He said that Naya Pakistan cannot be established by strangling the freedom of expression.
