Execution of three APS convicts halted

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Supreme Court has on Tuesday stopped the execution of three convicts where involved in attack on Army Public School Peshawar.

A two-member bench comprising Justice Dost Muhammad and Justice Faez Isa heard the appeal against Peshawar High Court decision of awarding death sentence to Taj Muhammad, Ali Rehman, Qari Muhammad Zubair in July 2015.

During the proceedings, Latif Afridi and Khalid Anwar, the lawyers of the accused said that Taj Muhammad, Ali Rehman, Qari Muhammad Zubair are accused of massacare in APS Peshawar, however, the Peshawar High Court’s court No 9 rejected the appeal of the accused without even listening and if the Supreme Court didn’t listen to the appeal of the accused, they might be hanged to death.

The lawyers further appealed the court to issue orders pertaining to the handing over of detailed record of sentence by the military court.

Justice Dost Muhammad remarked that the military courts should also write details of charges.

The court issued notice to Attorney General for Pakistan and the JAG branch to submit the unsigned copy of military court order not disclosing the name and designation of the authority that had awarded the death sentence and suspended the execution till 16-02-2016.
