KARACHI (92 News) – PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto has said that extension in the term of NAB Chairman Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal is not only illegal but also has malicious intent.

In a tweet, the PPP chairman said: "The selected government wants to continue victimization of opposition while ensuring the PM, his family, government and cronies continue to be immune from accountability, especially post Pandora Papers."

On Wednesday, President Dr Arif Alvi promulgated the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Amendment Ordinance 2021, allowing Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal to stay till appointment of the new chairman.

According to the ordinance, the President will consult Prime Minister Imran Khan and Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif for the appointment of the new chairman.

The ordinance has authorized the President to reappoint the NAB chairman on completion of his tenure.
