Extension in Rangers' powers faces delay

Extension in Rangers' powers faces delay
January 18, 2017
KARACHI (92 News) – A summary of extension in special powers for the Sindh Rangers has been facing a delay even after the paramilitary forces’ special powers in Sindh have expired on Sunday. The provincial government handed over policing powers to the paramilitary force in October 2016. Rangers were given powers under the Anti Terrorism Act 1997 according to which Rangers personnel would be authorized to conduct a raid and arrest accused in any area of the metropolis. Earlier, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) had submitted a resolution in the Sindh Assembly for the extension in Rangers powers as the issue of extension in special powers given to Sindh Rangers for stern action against the outlaws in the province could not be solved so far.
