ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Faisal Vawda on Tuesday filed a petition against the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) verdict disqualifying him.

The court will hear the petition on Wednesday.

Faisal Vawda, in the petition, contended that the ECP could not disqualify him. "There is no legal status of the verdict. As a result, the ECP verdict should be declared null and void," he stated.

On February 9, a three-member bench of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had disqualified  Faisal Vawda for having his dual nationality. In its judgment, the ECP observed that Faisal Vawda had submitted a wrong affidavit at the time of filing his election nomination papers in 2018. It also declared him ineligible for holding the seat of a senator and ordered to withdraw the notification issued in this regard.

On December 23, the ECP had reserved its verdict after PPP MNA Qadir Khan Mandokhail, the complainant, had completed his arguments.
