February 12, 2018
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has on Monday given February 20 deadline to the government to submit report of a committee led by Senator Raja Zafarul Haq, formed to probe the issue of the amendment in the oath regarding the Khatm-e-Nabuwwat when the Elections Act 2017 was passed last year. The Islamabad High Court (IHC) judge Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui heard the case pertaining to the sit-in of religious parties at Faizabad. In today’s proceedings, Deputy Attorney General Arshad Kiyani and Defense Secretary appeared before the court and submitted report regarding the use of army chief’s name in the agreement between the protesters and the government. However, the court expressed displeasure over government's failure to submit report of Senator Raja Zafarul Haq-led committee, formed to probe the issue of the amendment in the oath regarding the Khatm-e-Nabuwwat when the Elections Act 2017 was passed last year. Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui remarked that contempt of court notices will be issued against Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and ministers, if the government failed to to submit report of Senator Raja Zafarul Haq-led committee till February 20. The court later adjourned the hearing till February 20.
